Frauenraum in Namensfindung
Dieses Jahr feiert der Frauenraum 30jähriges Jubiläum. Nach dreissig Jahren ehrenamtlicher, politischer, kollektiver Arbeit, nach unzähligen Veranstaltungen und Tanznächten ist es an der Zeit, einen neuen, inklusiveren Namen für unseren heissgeliebten Raum zu finden.
In all diesen Jahren ist viel passiert und wichtige Arbeit wurde geleistet. Das Kollektiv hat vieles durchgemacht, Veränderungen mitgetragen und Herausforderungen überstanden. Seit ungefähr fünf Jahren ist nun der Wunsch da, den Namen des Raumes und des Kollektives zu verändern. Der Name Frauenraum hat in den vergangen dreissig Jahren eine wichtige emanzipatorische und identitätsstiftende Bedeutung gehabt. Auch heute ist der Frauenraum für die Menschen, die die Veranstaltungen zum Teil seit vielen Jahren besuchen und die im Kollektiv aktiv sind eine Herzensangelegenheit. Heute wünschen wir uns jedoch einen Namen, der sichtbar macht, dass sich auch in unserem Kollektiv und in den Konzepten, Ideen und Wünschen dahinter einiges weiterentwickelt hat. Besonders der Bezug zum binären Geschlecht Frau, scheint aus heutiger Perspektive für das Kollektiv nicht mehr passend. Es besteht der Wunsch nach einem Namen, der mehr Offenheit symbolisiert, da schon seit vielen Jahren auch trans, genderqueere, nonbinäre und queere Personen Teil vom Kollektiv sind. Über Inhalte, Fragen, Konflikte und Ziele haben sich Menschen in diesem Raum viele Gedanken gemacht und in diesem Zusammenhang auch bereits ein Positionspapier erarbeitet.
Der Wunsch, diese selbstkritischen Prozesse auch im Namen sichtbar zu machen besteht. Und er beschäftigt das Kollektiv – und wie wir merken auch die Besuchenden – zunehmend. Die Frage nach dem Namen ist begleitet von vielen Fragen, die damit im Zusammenhang stehen und für welche wir uns auch gerne Zeit nehmen. Wir stellen uns Fragen wie: Für wen ist der Raum da? Für wen ist der Raum zugänglich? Für wen nicht? Warum? Welche Diskirminierungsformen werden innerhalb unserer Strukturen reproduziert? Was können und wollen wir ändern? Wer ist momentan im Raum aktiv und warum? Was bedeutet es, ein Schutzraum zu sein und gleichzeitig proaktiv politische Anliegen zu vertreten?
Nach dem mehrjährigen internen Prozess zur Namensänderung wollen wir die Diskussion öffnen und im Dialog mit allen Menschen rund um den Frauenraum zu einem neuen Namen finden. Wir wollen und brauchen Inputs von euch allen – ob du ehemaliges Kollektivmitglied, hemmungslose BarOmeterTänzerin, begeisterter Podiumsteilnehmer, kreative*r Jamsession-Musiker*in, professionelle DJ oder gerade das erste Mal im Frauenraum bist – bring dich ein und schreibe, zeichne, bastle uns deine Ideen, Inputs, Wünsche und Träume zu möglichen neuen Namen.

La Frauenraum cherche un nouveau nom
La Frauenraum fête cette année son 30ème anniversaire. Après 30 ans de travail bénévole, politique et collectif, après avoir organisé d’innombrables événements et de nuits dansantes, il est temps de trouver un nouveau nom plus inclusif pour notre espace adoré.
Tout au long de ces années, beaucoup de choses se sont produites et un travail important a été effectué. Le collectif a connu plein de changements et a surmonté des défis majeurs. Depuis près de 5 ans, un désir se manifeste de vouloir changer le nom de cet espace et du collectif qui le gère. Le nom Frauenraum a servi pendant 30 ans et a eu un effet émancipateur et créateur d’identité important. Pour tant de personnes, qu’elles soient impliquées activement dans le collectif ou qu’elles visitent les événements depuis plusieurs années, la Frauenraum reste un espace qui leur tient à coeur. Aujourd’hui, nous souhaitons choisir un nouveau nom qui rend visible les développements conceptuels, les nouvelles idées et les désirs actuels au sein de notre collectif. La référence à la construction binaire Femme ne semble plus convenir. Nous constatons un souhait de trouver un nom symbolisant l’ouverture, étant donné le nombre de personnes trans, genderqueers, non-binaires et queers qui sont active·x·s depuis plusieurs années. Les personnes gérant l’espace ont beaucoup débattu des idées, des conflits, des contenus, des objectifs et ont récemment publié une prise de position.
A travers le choix d’un nouveau nom, nous souhaitons rendre visible ces processus autocritiques. Ce souhait préoccupe de plus en plus le collectif ainsi que les visiteur·x·euse·s. Le choix du nom soulève beaucoup de questionnements pour lesquelles nous prenons volontiers notre temps. Voici les questions que nous nous posons: Pour qui cet espace existe-t-il? Pour qui l’espace est-il accessible? Pour qui ne l’est-il pas et pour quelles raisons? Quelles expériences discriminatoires sont actuellement reproduites au sein de nos structures? Comment relier la nécessité de créer un espace de protection avec celle de vouloir être un espace proactif et politique?
Après un processus interne de plusieurs années consacré à ces questionnements, nous souhaitons ouvrir le débat et entrer en dialogue avec toutes les personnes entourant la Frauenraum en vue de trouver un nouveau nom. Nous avons besoin de ton avis – que tu sois un·x·e ancien·x·ne membre du collectif, danseur·x·euse, enthousiaste de la BarOmeter, panéliste·x·e engagé·x·e, musicien·x·ne créatif·x·ve, DJ professionel·x·le ou que tu sois pour la première fois à la Frauenraum – tu as ton mot à dire: écris-nous, bricole, dessine tes idées, tes contributions, tes souhaits et tes rêves de nouveaux noms possibles.

Frauenraum in the process of finding a name
This year the Frauenraum celebrates its 30th anniversary. After thirty years of voluntary, political and collective work, after countless events and danced out nights, it is time to find a new, more inclusive name for our much-loved space.
A lot has happened, and important work has been done in all these years. The collective has been through a lot, went through many changes and overcame challenges. For about five years now there has been a desire to change the name of the space and the collective. The name Frauenraum has had an important emancipatory and identity-forming meaning over the past thirty years. Still to this day, the Frauenraum is a matter of the heart for the people who attend events, some who have done so for many years, and who are active in the collective. Today, however, we wish for a name which shows the process we as a collective have gone through, but also that our ideas, concepts and wishes have changed over time. Especially the referenced use of the word woman (Frau) in this binary sense does not feel right to us as a collective anymore. There is a desire for a name which symbolises more openness, as trans, genderqueer, non-binary and queer people have been part of the collective for many years. People in this space have given a lot of thought to the contents, questions, conflicts and goals of this change and have also developed a position paper to it.
There is a desire to make these self-critical processes visible in the name as well. And it is increasingly occupying the collective – and, as we have noticed, the visitors as well.
The name question is accompanied by many relating questions, for which we are happy to make time. We ask ourselves questions like: Who is the space for? For whom is the space accessible? For whom not? Why? What forms of discrimination are reproduced within our structures? What can and do we want to change? Who is currently active in the space and why? What does it mean to be a safer space and at the same time proactively represent political concerns?
With the internal process of changing the name, which has been going for several years, we want to open the discussion and find a new name in dialogue with all people around the Frauenraum. We want and need input from all of you – whether you are a former collective member, an uninhibited BarOmeter dancer, an enthusiastic panellist, a creative jam session musician, a professional DJ or just coming to the Frauenraum for the first time – get involved and write, draw, craft your ideas, inputs, wishes and dreams for a possible new name.
